The Coalition for Employment through Exports (CEE) is a not-for-profit association that seeks to improve federal programs for export and investment finance and insurance, and export promotion/advocacy so as to strengthen the ability of our members to compete successfully in a highly competitive export environment.
CEE’s membership includes large and small exporters, as well as banks, insurers, and other parties that rely on programs of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank), the International Trade Administration of the Department of Commerce (ITA), the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and other trade promotion agencies to provide a level playing field for U.S. exporters.
U.S. export growth, particularly since the financial crisis of 2008-09, is an increasingly critical contributor to the rebound of the U.S. economy. But foreign competition for export markets has never been more intense than at present. For American exporters, their foreign competition often has access to government export support programs which are highly responsive, flexible and very aggressive on behalf of their companies.
For continued growth in U.S. exports and the American jobs they support, the federal programs must keep up with the competition and likewise become more flexible, with their programs providing broader program support to U.S. companies than at present. Certain export sectors, such as the IT service companies, presently receive little support from any of these federal programs. CEE and its member companies believe that only if the government maximizes its support for U.S. exports can it maximize the jobs the export sector generates.
